About Me

I am a high school English teacher in Maryland. I completed my teaching credential program at Sonoma State University, California, in May 2016 and began teaching in August of that year. I love helping students discover their writing voice through real-world applications of writing and discover new books through my obsessively updated classroom library.

Before becoming a teacher, I was an editor who specialized in launching or helping launch online and print publications that break the mold in their genre, whether it be guitar, business, or travel. As a writer, I tried to evoke the spirit or personality of my subjects, with an eye for the quirky.

Before COVID and before moving across the country, in my free time, I played mandolin with Lucky Drive Bluegrass Band (and previously played with Bay Area bluegrass band the Barefoot Nellies for seven years and country band The Lucky Horseshoe House Band for three years). I occasionally write songs, often cook or bake, and, in fits and spurts, craft (knit, sew, paper crafts, you name it).

For slightly more information about me, see my profile on LinkedIn.

A thank you from a Digital Design student during my student teaching year at Kenilworth.
I turn my back for one second and students start writing on my whiteboard…
